My 2018 Andy Culpepper Spanish guitar #92 | In the making | PART 2

design for the custom rosette - some math

I dreamed of having a guitar with my own specs and attention to detail. One of those customized things is the rosette design. For this, I went to my roots and decided on a traditional Greek key styling which derived from the Classical Age of Hellenistic art. The Greek key, known as a "Meandros" in Greek, which represents the idea of infinity and Unity. For this build, I wanted to go with a design which was similar to the late designer, Gianni Versace (who also paid tribute of his Southern Italian heritage with the Greek keys. I wanted to see the precise detailed work which custom rosettes require. Andy did a spectacular job in creating my vision - with using Black and Koto woods.

The rosette all completed. Wow this is turning into something very awesome!

Gerundino-style headstock being carved by hand

For guitars, the heel-to-body neck joint is a vital part of the build. Here it is being shaped with a request to make the heel foot rounder and have smooth contour on the left hand to make if more comfortable (shaped after my GK Pro).

Shaping up the back and sides (soundboard still not glued yet)
I went with a modified Barbero-style bracing system without those extra support braces on bottom. Makes a very responsive and flamenco-sounding guitar.

"In the White" - a term used by Andy to describe a guitar that his put together without the finish on. In that manner, he can find if the guitar needs some more shaping of the top, back or sides. Here, my guitar-to-be is receiving the EVO gold frets and other enhancements
